Aspen Mountain has recorded nearly four feet of fresh snow since mid-April, and the Skiing Company will open the top of Aspen for a weekend of skiing and boarding. 16 runs serviced by the Ajax Express chairlift will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday through Memorial Day Monday. The Sundeck Restaurant on top will be open for the weekend as well, and the mountain will welcome foot passengers too. A fun weekend is ahead!
Biking season starts in earnest this weekend, with the 19th annual Ride for the Pass on Saturday May 18, benefiting the Independence Pass Foundation. To register for the race, visit www.independencepass.org or call (970) 9663-4959.
It may be quiet in town, but even in off-season there are fun things to do. If you're a lover of the witty music and lyrics of Cole Porter, you're in luck! Head down to the Basalt Public Library tomorrow, May 16, for a performance by well-known local soprano Cathy Markle and jazz pianist Tim Fox. They will present an hour of Porter favorites from 5:30-6:30 pm. The concert is free and takes place in the library's conference room.
